- Reviewed several CDs, including some fine offerings from Salty Dick, Swashbuckle, and the Musical Blades. Also included is a not-so-fine offering from Disney, titled "Pirates of the Caribbean - Swashbuckling Sea Songs".

- Reviewed several fine pieces of jewerly from Ghost Pirate Ship.net, specifically their Privateer and Ghost Pirate Ship Pendants, and "The Ring".

- Since Pyrat Rum underwent a packaging changeover a couple years back, I've been wanting to do a side-by-side taste test to determine if the contents had changed as well. I've finally done so, and you can read the results of my Pyrat Rum XO Taste Test.

Pirate News:

- Perfect Pirate, one of my own favorite pirate clothiers, is offering an insane special rate on pirate muslin shirts for Bilgemunky Readers. Do check it out - I wear one of these shirts all the time!

- The Telegraph brings us an interesting article titled, "Ship designer reveals how pirates escaped". In this case, the pirates in question are the Barbary Corsairs.

- Out of Florida comes this story of pirates in Ybor City.

- And it's about time - following hte Chicago artsy cows and the Milwaukee artsy whatsits - that a city decided to make a series of artsy pirate statues.

- Reviewed three new pirate books: And a Bottle of Rum, Pirate Soul, and In the Time of Worms - all are very good and worth your consideration.

- Reviewed three new rums: Cockspur 12 year, Ron Zacapa Centenario, and Santa Teresa 1796 - with somewhat more mixed results.

- Posted Bilgemunky's Top Ten Most Significant Pirate Events/Products of 2006, which had originally aired on Bilgemunky Radio a short while back.

- In case you haven't figured it out from the new link, check out Bilgemunky Radio on Monday nights - playing all your favorite pirate tunes, be they shanties, rock, or rap!

- Looks like Treasure Island might be coming to Broadway!

- Sweet lordy, this is AWSOME!!! The teaser for Pirates II (a Joone fim) has just been released online, and you can view it now. NOTE: This is an ADULT film, and while the teaser is a very clear-cut G rating (just an incredible CGI skeleton and pirate ship weathering a storm), I make no such promises about any ads, links, or future trailers that might accompany clicking this link.

- On a more wholesome note, this is also awsome (for the name, if nothing else): KnitLikeaPirate.com.

- A fun article on pirate reenactors recently appeared on The State (South Carolina's homepage).

- I've officially made plans this year to attend PyrateCon in New Orleans and the Port Washington Pirate Festal. Both promise to be excellent festivals, and I'd highly recommend them to anyone with the means to check them out.

ALERT - The Tallship Royaliste has run aground!
I had the great pleasure of visiting the Royaliste and hanging out with her captain last summer. It's truly a fantastic ship, and crewed by folks doing their very best to live - and share - the pirate life. While maintaining a ship such as this is incredibly difficult and expensive even in the best of times, this latest disaster may well threaten it's very future. Read full details here.
